My Mother’s Day Weekend

Good morning and happy Wednesday friends! Today I’m happy to be able to share a little glimpse into the fun filled history adventure of my Mother’s Day weekend with you. I finally finished editing all of the photos and got to relive the memories while doing so. I was fortunate enough to spend it in my favorite city filled with history, culture, and excitement. Ava’s always learning and soaking up information. I find it important to teach her as much history as I can about each place we visit. She loves it and can tell you quite a bit about American history! A current favorite of hers right now is Abraham Lincoln. She was completely taken by him and wanted to go talk to him, which we did multiple times at the memorial. One of my favorite pictures is actually her gazing upon Lincoln’s portrait at the National Portrait Gallery. She looks so small standing next to the painting and is in a state of awe. Coming from a history loving family like mine, it’s pretty amazing to see. I kept telling Ava all weekend how lucky I am to have her and thank you for making me your mommy. She gave me the most beautiful gift of all. Being her mommy.

Floral Fever

Ruffle Floral Dress c/o (Use The Code AmandaZOV20 for 20% off of your order!) || Straw Circle Bag || Jack Rogers Sandals || Sunglasses || KEP Earrings c/o || DW Watch c/o ||

Hello all and happy Monday!  I am currently writing this from outside as it is such a gorgeous day! We had rain for about 75 perfectof the weekend so it truly feels like a breath of fresh air. Speaking of the weekend, did anyone watch the Royal Wedding?? I didn’t see it live, but as soon as I woke up, I watched all of the highlights and read up on all of the details. It looked like a dream wedding and Harry and Meghan were so happy! I couldn’t be happier for them. I also went to go see Deadpool 2 and loved it. Ryan Reynolds is perfect in the part and oh so halarious. If you liked the first Deadpool, then you are sure to pleased with this one as well.

I’ve always been a huge fan of floral prints and wear them year long no matter the season. When the seasons do change into fall and winter, I change over from light brights to dark florals in order to keep rocking my favorite print. They’re also my favorite backdrop to photograph against. The song lyric, “these are a few of my favorite things” comes to mind when thinking of this dress! The eye catching white flowers set against a beautiful blush background make for one stunning combo. The ruffle hem adds some feminine flair while the ruffle cut out in the back gives this dress a fun sexy twist that still feels elegant! On a side note, does anyone know the name of the white flowering trees I’m standing by? They smelled AMAZING! Possibly jasmine? No one knew for sure, but they were increadible.

This Dress Makes Me Smile

Yellow Floral Dress c/o || Similar Circle Bag (Mine Is From TJMaxx) || Franco Sarto Heels, Old, (Similar) || Express Sunglasses, Old, (Similar) || Kohl’s Trench Coat, Old, (Similar) ||

Happy Good Friday, everyone!  First off, thank you to my dad for taking these photos for me. The location we took them in doesn’t allow tripods so his help was essential and of course greatly appreciated! This dress instantly puts a smile on my face with its vibrant sunshine yellow color adorned with pretty blossoms. The tie neck and ruffle cuffs add a beautiful touch of femininity that I always adore. I wanted the whole look to feel as if spring has sprung and to be bright and cheery. I had so many people stop to comment on either the dress, shoes, or trench coat. Needless to say, this outfit was a hit! The dress fits true to size.

This was our last day and one that turned out to be amazing. I actually came down with a nasty stomach bug and spent most of the time in bed, but felt better by the end of the trip and we made sure to pack as much into the last day as we could. We had some yummy snacks at Rare Sweets where Ava got her famous cherry blossom cookie and then took a walk around before heading over to Arlington National Cemetery to pay our respects at JFK’s grave. Finally we headed to a late lunch with our family memebers. It’s always so wonderful to see them. I wish we lived closer!

I hope everyone has a blessed weekend and enjoys the Easter holiday! Below are some more photos from the day.

Dreamy Rooftop Views

Gingham Ruffle Dress c/o || Pink Slides || Sunglasses || Circle Crossbody Bag || Similar Straw Hat || DW Rose Gold Watch c/o || Jackie Kennedy Pearl Drop Earrings ||

A very happy good morning to everyone! Though I currently live and grew up in the country, there’s nothing I find more thrilling than gazing upon a city to watch the hustle and bustle below. Oh the excitement! The sounds of city life alone feed my soul. This particular rooftop is a favorite of mine with views of two famous buildings, the Capitol and Washington Monument. It’s a fantastic spot to bask in the golden glow of a sunset too. As soon as I arrived in the city, I made my way to roof to catch the last of this beautiful sunset and to take it all in. This gingham dress with a ruffle neck and cuffs felt wonderful on. It’s a charming little number! Truly a versatile piece that could be worn on a picnic, to an amusement park, or strolling down the avenue while window shopping. I’m wearing a small and it fit perfectly.

Hello and happy Thursday, friends! A new brand recently launched at Kohls called k/lab. Their motto is :break hearts, not the bank." I can definitely get behind pieces that are affordable and effortlessly chic with a modern twist. Each dress I'm wearing above is from their March and April collection. Think spring! Whether it's off the shoulder, bell sleeves, or pretty prints, this brand has it all. I'm wearing a size small in each dress.

Eyelash Lip Print T-Shirt

Good morning, friends! This was one of my favorite recent casual looks that I've worn. I especially love elevated casual looks when I'm traveling because, let's be honest, I'd rather be comfortable when I'm walking around and sight seeing then not. A good portion of the trips I've taken over my lifetime end up being more adventure driven then relaxing, haha. Anyway, this look is perfect for your weekend wear or for a weekend getaway to a city. I've had my eye on this eyelash and lipstick print t-shirt for quite some time now. It's absolutely adorable and a fun update on the classic white tee. I'm wearing an XS for reference. This tee is also only $11!

I've also been looking for a classic denim skirt to add to my wardrobe and fell in love with this one. The buttons up the front have an updated feel from the classic 90s version everyone used to wear. I remember rocking mine back in the day! I'm wearing a size small, which fit snug. I wouldn't size up though, just something to be aware of. For under $15, this skirt is such a steal! I also switched out my straw bag later in the day for this camera bag. If you're a photographer or blogger, this bag is for you! I love its whimsical charm. How cool is the tassel strap too?!

Cherry Blossoms And Dreamy Lace

White Lace Dress c/o || Pink Sandals || Circle Bag || Boater Hat || Blue and White Striped Sneaks || Pink Sunglasses || Boohoo Earrings c/o || Jackie Kennedy Unity Band || Jackie Kennedy Emerald Unity Band || Daniel Wellington Petite Rose Gold Watch c/o || Love Rose Gold Bangle || Lip Color: Ava ||

Good morning and happy Friday, friends! Spring has officially sprung and that means its cherry blossom season, one of my favorite times of the year! I love seeing the gorgeous trees in all of their pink glory. I can't help but swoon every time I see them. This beautiful lace dress from Chicwish was an absolute dream to wear around the blossoms all day. The scalloped hem adds a modern flair to the classic silhouette. This is the type of dress I could wear all spring and summer long. The midi length suits any occasion and the dress was so comfy to wear! I'm wearing an XS for reference. I swapped out my pink sandals for some fancy blue and white sequin striped sneaks once night time hit. I have to say, I love the sandals and their blush hue, but after four hours my feet just about had it. I walked all around the city, but once that fourth hour hit, I was done for haha. The sneaks on the other hand, they were as comfortable as could be. If you're going on holiday or just want a whimsical or trendy outfit, make sure to stop by Chicwish.

The weather was absolutely amazing for seeing the blossoms. High 70s during the day and low 70s at night. I wish those kinds of temperatures would stick around! I'm sick of winter lingering as long as it can. I forgot to mention I recently saw Beauty and Beast too. Wow!!! It was AMAZING! So beautifully done and magical. All of the actors were perfectly cast. Has anyone else seen it yet? I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Pink and Teal Flare

My last day in D.C. was spent at the National Harbor, which is such a cute to visit! Lots of little shops (South Moon Under, one of my fave's!) and restaurants line the streets, while the harbor has a ferris wheel, boating, and one of the most amazing hotels I've seen. It's actually the convention center, but wow, the inside was breathtaking. I have some more photos of it below. It's where these photos were taken. The one wall is all windows looking out upon the harbor. Quite a site to see! There is even a little village set up on the ground floor.

This skirt is actually part of a matching set with a crop top, but I decided to switch it out for a bright pop of color with this swing top. The teal really makes a statement while the skirt has that effortless swish I love so much. Plus, I mean hello, pink! I adore how the skirt has a vintage feel to it that simply makes me smile. That's one of the great things about having an outfit that comes as a set, you can switch out the pieces for multiple looks.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Dark Floral Dress // The Kennedy Center

DownEast Basics Dress c/o || Tignanello Bag c/o || Boater Hat || Flats (similar lace ups here) || Karen Walker Sunnies || Daniel Wellington Watch c/o || Jackie Kennedy Unity Band || Humble Chic Olive Branch Earrings c/o ||

I have to say I am beyond excited for fall to get here. I'm always excited for the next season when it is about one month away. That being said, the season after fall I am not so excited for, haha. I'm soaking up as much summer as I can while slowly transitioning over to my fall wardrobe. Dark florals are a fantastic way to still wear summer staples that look and feel like fall. This midi dress with pleating, perfect for twirls!, is so beautiful for wearing throughout the day and even into night. While I was in DC, I wore this to explore the Kennedy Center and then out to dinner and drinks with some friends. The Tignanello bag was a perfect match for the subtle pink flowers in the dress. The shade is called Peony, though it reminds me more of a rose. I love the lady like dome shape and have been carrying this everywhere lately, even to the Shinedown concert last night, which was fantastic by the way!

The Kennedy Center is showing The Phantom of the Opera right now until August 20th. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the signs and costumes out on display. Phantom is favorite Broadway play and one of my favorite movies. I wish I had known ahead of time, I would have gone! I have seen it in New York a few years ago. Kennedy and Phantom in one building (enter the heart eye emoji here.) My cousin took me all around the building and then eventually out onto the roof where the outfit photos were taken. If you have not ever been, I would highly recommend visiting and taking in a show. Even the staff members were a delight to talk to.

Nautical in the City

Striped Sweater || H&M Sailor Shorts (bought in store) Similar || Sandals || Tory Burch Cross Body Bag || Karen Walker Sunnies || Humble Chic Olive Branch Earrings c/o || Daniel Wellington Watch c/o || Jackie Kennedy Unity Band ||

Happy Tuesday! Just a quick post for today with some nautical flair, which as you know I'm a huge fan of! Nautical styles, next to romantic, are my favorite to wear. I just picked up these sailor shorts at an H&M store and love the high waisted style with the gold buttons. The sweater actually has matching gold buttons along the shoulder. Usually, I would have gone for a blue striped sweater, but I have so many of them and decided to branch out a bit with the orange. I like it!

I'm headed off to see Shinedown live in concert in about an hour! I cannot wait. They are my favorite band and one I've seen multiple times in concert. They always put on a fantastic show!

Rainbow Pleats

Pleated Rainbow Top (bought in stores) Dress version On Sale (Here) and Similar Tank (Here) || Similar Pleated Skirt || Boater Hat || Blush Flats || Straw Bag || Karen Walker Sunnies || Jackie Kennedy Unity Band || Humble Chic Olive Branch Earrings c/o || Daniel Wellington Watch c/o ||

I've had a long standing girl crush on pleats for quite some time now. They're perfect for twirling in and have the best feminine flair! I love how having pleats on the top and bottom make this outfit look like a dress, while actually being a top and skirt. The bright rainbow colors are fabulous for summer and bring a cheeriness to the entire look. I got this top in the store, but could not find it online, although the dress version (which is gorgeous) is still available and is on sale for under $25 right now! I wore this look while strolling around in Washington D.C. in the simmering heat. The humidity was unbearable! Thankfully, the museums all have amazing air conditioning, haha.

Georgetown

Black Chiffon Top || Gingham Pants || Kate Spade Straw Bag || Jean Jacket || Karen Walker Sunnies via Shop Ditto, sold out (Similar Here) || Silver Strap Heels || Starburst Earrings || Jackie Kennedy Unity Band || Rumba Time Watch c/o ||

If there was one word to describe Georgetown, it would have to be charming. It's one of my favorite spots to visit while I'm in D.C. This was the last destination for my dad and I while we were in D.C. I wanted him to see one of JFK's homes while he was living there before becoming president elect, the shops and restaurants, and all of the lovely homes. This post is special because I got to take some of my photos at JFK's old home (its the tall brick one I'm standing by with the green door.) For our outing, I wore these chic gingham pants that fit perfectly. I usually have trouble with pants since I'm petite. I found out that Old Navy has a petite section (online only) and decided to give it a try. Success! I got a 0 petite and could not be happier with them. So for all you of shorter gals out there definitely give their petite section a try! These silver heels are so dreamy! I feel in love as soon as I saw them. The chunky heels makes them a breeze to walk in and the pointy toe keeps them sophisticated and polished. I knew going to Georgetown in them would be a great test since some of the sidewalks are brick lined and I had no trouble in these.

Some More Images From The Day:

So as I mentioned before, this brick home belonged to JFK and Jackie right before he became President. It's the most famous of all the homes he owned while living in Georgetown. There's some various pretty photos around town. My dad and I made sure to eat at Martin's Tavern where it's said that JFK proposed to Jackie in what they now have marked as "The Proposal Booth." It's usually reserved by couple looking to make that big step! While we were sitting there, a couple actually did become engaged. We were sitting right next to the booth too and watched the whole thing happen. The restaurant erupted in cheers and clapping. It was so exciting! I also have a photo of my dad sitting in the "rumble booth" where JFK would sit every Sunday to have his breakfast while reading the paper. After hitting JFK's home and Martin's Tavern, we walked around town and stopped in some shops, ultimately making our way to a bookstore where we found some goodies. We got some coffee's and continued to stroll around the town and take in all of the sights. Before we headed over to Georgetown, we took a walk down to the White House. I've been fascinated by Presidential history my whole life and always make sure to stop down while I'm in town.

Floral Lace in the City

Floral Lace Dress || Kate Spade Bag || Karen Walker Sunnies via Shop Ditto (Similar Here) || Boater Hat || Gold Loafers || Rumba Time Watch || Starburst Earrings || Jackie Kennedy Unity Band ||

Two things I make sure to bring with me on trips are dresses and a good pair of flats. Dresses are the simply chic outfit all in one, while a pair of dressier flats will keep you looking polished and your feet happy while exploring. I knew that my dad and I would be doing tons and tons of walking while in D.C. (that's the fun part!) so I packed these slip on gold pointed loafers. The classic mens wear inspired shoe never fails and kept me going all day long without any discomfort. I always prefer a pointed toe to keep the look modern. The purple and pink floral print with the lace detailing could not be any more lovely. It's the perfect dress for Sunday brunch, a day of sightseeing, or a fun date night filled with walks in the park, ice cream, and a movie. I'm wearing a size small for reference.

For the beginning of this day in D.C., my dad and I did a tour of the Capitol building and went to Union Station to meet some friends of mine. We then all had lunch al fresco at a new restaurant called Romero and Juliet. It's right near Union Station and I highly recommend it if you're in the neighborhood. Next, we all trekked down to the Library of Congress. I kept joking that I was waiting for Nick Cage to pop out at any time! Both the Capitol and Library are magnificent buildings. I was blown away by the grandeur and architecture between the two. Simply breathtaking. Below are some indoor photos from each.

When Life Gives You Lemons....

Lemon Dress sold out, similar favorites (here), (here), Longer version(here), and (here)|| Boater Hat || Kate Spade Bag || Similar Espadrille Sneakers || Rumba Time Watch c/o || Jean Jacket c/o || Starburst Earrings || Jackie Kennedy Unity Band ||

Happy Monday, friends! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends and if you live on the east coast, that the rain didn't hamper you plans too much.

I don't know about you, but I love to travel. If at all possible, I jump at the opportunity to travel, explore, and have an adventure. Washington DC is one of the destinations that if I could live there, I would without hesitation. There is an energy to the city that I just eat up. Plus, the people are friendlier and the city is cleaner than others I've been too. The first day my dad and I arrived for our weekend trip, I wore this lemon printed dress with a darling neck tie and pleated skirt. Pretty much everything I love in a dress all rolled into one! I adore how vibrant the lemon print is with yellow flowers and a little ruffle hem at the sleeve. Unfortunately, it sold out pretty quick, but I have very similar ones linked here as well. We enjoyed cocktails and horderves on the rooftop terrace while the sun was setting. It was wonderful to chat and catch up while taking in all of the scenery around us.  Then we all got ready to stroll around town and eventually headed to dinner at Clyde's restaurant. Afterwards, we walked around town a bit more and topped off the night with some ice cream before heading back. Truly a magical night to remember!

Also, thanks to my dad for shooting all of the photos of me! He's one in a million <3
