Enchanted Floral Dreams

Floral Dress c/o || Straw Hat || Vintage Kate Spade Bag (Similar) || Wedge Espadrilles || Pink & Blue Co. Bracelet c/o ||

There’s nothing dreamier to me than a gorgeous sunset with soft beautiful light filtering through. Add some floral blooms and you have one enchanting evening. This was a look I put together for one of the warmer days we had and I might add, one of my favorite looks to date. The sunshine absolutely enlivened my senses and brought a sense of happiness along with the promise of spring soon to come. Along with the weather, this dress put the biggest smile on my face. It’s pretty pleats and darling bow  neck tie add to its feminine beauty. Not to mention the stunning print! Right after shooting these photos, I went to a local church dinner with my dad and received so many lovely compliments on the dress. It was a wonderful evening filled with good food, good company, and an ensemble that has so much springtime charm.

Good morning and happy Tuesday! With spring right on the horizon, I swear I could even smell it in the air yesterday, I have all of my floral pieces pulled out and ready to go. There’s nothing more refreshing after a long winter than beautiful blossoms coming to life spreading their beauty and delectable fragrance in the warm air. Not only does this top remind me of all that spring has to offer, it’s also in the most lovely shade of pastel blue, which seems to be everywhere I look this season. From tops to bags, shoes, skirts, scarves, and even pjs, pastel blue is a color perfectly capturing the tranquility of spring. The straw hat adds the perfect amount of vintage flare and I must say, I absolutely adore it!

Silver Screen Glam

Good morning, everyone! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! Mine was filled with antiquing, getting some fresh air, catching up on some work, attending a church dinner, and also starting Schitt’s Creek on Netflix. A few people have recommended the show to me and let me tell you, it is hilarious! I’m not kidding. I could not stop watching it. It’s definitely binge worthy and will have you laughing the entire way through.

My fashion roots, heart, and soul have always been with vintage inspired looks. While the 1950s have always been my favorite time period, I also have quite a soft spot for the 1940s and 1960s too. This particular look nods to the 40s with its silky silver fabric, A-line skirt, knee length cut, soft waves, and of course a red lip with some pearl accents. Actresses like Lana Turner, Lauren Bacall, Rita Hayworth, Ingrid Bergman, Veronica Lake, and Gene Tierney come to mind. I also must give credit where credit is due. Ava is the one who chose the red shoes for this outfit. She actually helps me pick out some accessories for quite a bit of my looks! We had just watched The Wizard Of Oz the night before so Dorothy’s ruby red slippers were front and center on both of our minds.

Pink Lady

Pink Ruffle Top c/o || LC Lauren Conrad Skirt (Old, Similar) || Hoop Earrings || Similar Stud Heels || Betsy Johnson Clutch (Old, Similar) ||

Good morning and happy Wednesday!  I cannot help but to think of the Pink Ladies from Grease whenever I see a pink and black color combination. This top, with its adorable ruffles, was the inspiration for this outfit and definitely has some retro vibes. The material is formfitting and looks better tucked into either pants or a skirt.

Did anyone else happen to watch The Bachelor this last Monday? I honestly have never watched the show, but started to this season. It’s quite entertaining lol. The infamous fence jumping scene finally happened on Monday and everyone went wild! I don’t blame Colton one bit after what happened with Cassie though. Ugh, that was heart breaking to watch.

With A Cherry On Top

Cherry Button Down Top || Denim Skirt || Pink Bow Flats || Blue Top Handle Bag || Gold Hoop Earrings || Pink & Blue Co Bracelet c/o || Pink Chair || Writing Desk || 2019 Planner || Floral Pen ||

Good morning and happy Friday! Happy March 1st too! Yesterday was a very exciting one in our family. My dad retired after 37 years of being a podiatrist. The office held a party for him with lots of yummy food and a cake. They also made up a memory book filled with pictures throughout the years and funny sayings. It was so nice to see everyone all together having a good time. I know my dad, brother, and I appreciated all of the thought that went into creating the party. Little miss Ava absolutely stole the show too. She loves a party! Congrats dad on a well deserved retirement!

Speaking of Ava, she told me when I was wearing this cherry print top that it reminded her of Mary Poppins. That’s a plus in my book! I love the color combination of pink and red with some green and the subtle cherries printed on the top. It’s quite lovely and has a fresh feeling to it. I paired it with a denim skirt going for a casual vibe.

Needing Nautical

Yellow Jacket || Striped Top || White Skinny Jeans || Red Scalloped Bag || Sunglasses || Similar Scarf || Navy Flats ||

Happy Wednesday, friends! As winter carries on, my mind has been drifting to all things warm weather related, including my love for nautical pieces. Truth be told, I wear nautical ensembles year round, regardless of the season. A favorite in summer, I like to keep the seafarer vibe going strong whenever and wherever I can. I decorated my home with a strong nautical New England influence.

The inspiration for this look started with the yellow parka jacket, perfect for layering in the spring and summer. It has a decent weight to it, which I was actually surprised with. The striped top and white jeans will always be a forever classic pairing, along with the navy flats adorned with gold buttons. They’re on sale now too! Ava was particularly taken with the scalloped bag in a bright shade of red. She wanted to carry it the whole time and often does when we’re at home. Completing the look, I tied a sailboat scarf around my neck that I got up at the Cape a few years back.

Winter Meets Spring

Floral Embroidered Dress c/o || Similar Clutch (Here) And (Here)  || Similar Sequin Shoes ||

Hello and happy Monday! I hope everyone had an amazing weekend! Did anyone happen to watch the Oscars last night? Ava and i watched the ceremony and loved all of the musical performances. The opener with Queen and Adam Lambert was amazing! Now that’s how you open a show! Lady Gaga’s and Bradley Coopers performance was incredibly emotional and filled to the brim with electric chemistry. A well deserved double standing ovation! My favorite speech was by Olivia Colman for best actress. My goodness, she was beyond adorable! I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. Also, Chris Evans being a real life Captain America in helping Regina King up the stairs, swoon, proof that chivalry is not dead. What a gentleman!

This time of the year is tough to dress for. Spring everything is hitting the shelves, yet it’s still chilly out with threats of winter weather everywhere. Enter dark floral dresses. Bonus points for ones with a longer skirt! The florals and pink skirt in this one feel like spring, while the dark mesh anchors the look to the winter season. I love the romance of this dress is and how elegant I felt while wearing it. As it gets closer to spring, simply swap out the heels for some strappy sandals and you have a beautiful spring ensemble!

Good morning, friends! The spring equinox arrives in 27 days and I, along with just about everyone else, cannot wait for the official end of winter. While I do enjoy what each season has to offer, I cannot help but be the most excited for spring. The warm weather, sunshine, pastel colors, and beautiful blooms make me incredibly happy. This mint dress with petite florals throughout not only looks like spring, but also feels like it too. The chiffon fabric feels light as air along with the flirty skirt that swishes with each step. I love a good twirl! The dress runs true to size and feels like a breath of fresh air to throw on.

Good morning, friends! I’ve been a long time fan of the color pink. I use it in everything from my clothes, shoes, accessories, home decorating, stationary, kitchen appliances, and more. It’s the one color that has pretty much taken over every corner of my life. This outfit mixes a few different shades of pink with pops of leopard for a look that works for the office as well as going out for drinks afterwards. I particularly love wearing dusty rose shades in the fall and winter, including this pair of pants. The color is absolutely gorgeous. I couldn’t find the color listed online, but did find these in the store.

Love Is In The Air

Good morning and happy Presidents Day! I hope everyone had an amazing Valentines weekend or if you have today off, are enjoying the long weekend. I also wanted to note the passing of an icon, Lee Radziwill. Though never quite reaching the star status of her sister, Jackie Kennedy, she was a true legend in her own right. She was the definition of elegance, class, and had a timeless style that influenced many over the years. R.I.P.

This was one of the outfits I styled for Valentine’s Day and it ended up being the one I wore on the actual day. Though the love filled holiday has passed, I still love this outfit for its cozy vibes and soft color combination. The pop of leopard makes a small but bold statement and the tassel earrings add an element of fun.

Happy Valentine’s Day 2019

Good morning and happy Valentine’s Day dear friends!! Each year, Ava and I celebrate this special love filled day with a party where we dress up and enjoy some yummy treats, fruit, and music. We always pull out our prettiest plates and cups to make it feel extra special. This year, Ava wanted to wear her yellow princess dress styled after Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She wanted me to match in yellow so I pulled out this LC Lauren Conrad Maxi pleated dress from a few years ago. We listened and sang to some of her favorite Shinedown songs, by her request!, and chatted about what a lovely party it was. My little babe loves to celebrate. I will always be thankful for my forever Valentine and all the love and happiness she brings to my life. Thank you, Ava. I hope everyone enjoys this special day!

The Art Of The Handwritten Note

Blue Lace Dress c/o || Blue Embellished Shoes || Rose Floral Pen || Pink Polka Dot Pen || Hydrangea Stationary || Lighthouse Note Cards || The Art Of The Handwritten Note || Mint Arrow Clipboard || Gold Flower Earrings || Pink & Blue Co. Bracelet c/o ||

Good morning and a very happy Friday, friends! This is a post I have been wanting to do for quite some time now and I am beyond excited to finally have it for you today. I’ve been hand writing notes for as long as I can remember. I used to write very simple ones to my mom and dad when I was younger. I would write to my mom as often as I could once I no longer lived at home. Though she couldn’t write back, she loved to receive them. My dad would read them to her. I wrote to my grandmother quite a bit, to friends and family members, and of course I wrote many love letters over the years. Even with email and texting becoming the norm, my late husband and I would still hand write letters to one another. I would thank friends for having my late husband and I over to their homes or for any gifts received. I would write to simply catch up with family members.

I do realize that I’m talking about physically writing out a note on the very medium that makes note writing seem obsolete. Today’s world consists of instant everything. I believe for that very reason that writing and receiving a hand written note are all the more special and heartfelt. It is something that takes time and a good amount of thought put into it. There is no backspace key or delete button. Writing and sending a note shows the recipient you care about them and you took time out of your busy day to pen the letter. It has more meaning than an email or a phone call, and while those are perfectly fine ways to communicate, especially if a matter is urgent, there is still a personal feeling and indeed an art to writing a note by hand.

I personally like to set my writing area up before I sit down to compose my letter. I always have a cup of coffee or tea on hand to sip while thinking of the words that will eventually reach the page. The pen and paper you choose will set the mood for what you are about to write as well. I will admit that I am a sucker for pretty office sulies, especially pens and stationary. I’m inspired to write when I have a beautiful pen and card to write upon. The paper chosen can express to the reader a message before they even begin to read your letter. The size of the paper, the thickness, is it decorated or have initials on it, and the color all send a subtle message. Even the pen you choose will influence how you write and should make you feel confident when doing so. How the pen feels in your hand and appeals to your eye will make for the perfect combination.

The most common hand written note would be the thank you card. Also, when in doubt, always send one. It’s better to over thank than to not thank at all. Other occasions are love letters, condolences, thinking of you, congratulations, invitations, and a request.

In the very most basic form your note should include the following:

1. The location from where you are writing from

2. The date

3. Salutation (Dear, Hi, Hello!)

4. Text. Three sentences minimum will fill the front of a notecard nicely.

5. Windup Phrase (thank you again, looking forward to seeing you). This is a transition to the closing.

6. Closing (Cheers, Sincerely, Yours, Best, Affectionately). The closing words give the impression of a wave, handshake, hug, or kiss.  “Best” and “Bye” are breezy and impersonal like a wave. “Sincerely” is impersonal and formal like a handshake. “Yours” and “truly yours” are personal and casual like a hug. “Affectionately” and “love” are very personal like a kiss.

7. Signature

I recently picked up The Art Of The Handwritten Note and devoured the book. It’s the perfect compliment to any writing desk and fantastic for someone who would like to start writing notes or write more frequently. It’s where I got some of the information here from. I highly recommend it!

Happy Thursday, friends!  If you’re in the path of the polar vortex, please stay safe! Wind chills are going way below zero making it harmful to be outside for extended periods of time today. On a happier note, yesterday was the grand reopening of Wilkes-Barre’s Barns & Nobles bookstore! Back in June of last year, a tornado ripped through the area causing a great amount of damage, including the B&N building. We were thrilled to be able to go back to one of our favorite stores!

Every now and then I like to switch up my style and keep things fresh. Enter these faux leather leggings. They add a little bit of edge to a classic casual look. They have a snug fit with some stretch to them, though I think they would look better on someone taller than me. For reference, I’m 5’2 and found there to be bunching in the leg area around the knee. They do look great though and fit just like a glove. They also have little pockets, a plus in my book!

Adding Some Glam To My Everyday Style

Faux Fur Leopard Coat c/o || Similar Pink Sweater Dress || Similar Sequin Clutch || Similar Leopard Heels || Pink & Blue Co Bracelet c/o ||

Good morning and welcome to an extremely chilly Wednesday! Today is the day we’re supposed to get the polar vortex, which is an excellent day to chat about this leopard coat! I’ve always been a big fan of leopard. It adds just the right amount of effortless glam to any look, especially when it’s a faux fur. I’ve paired the print with every color under the rainbow and it never fails. The faux fur coat feels incredibly soft and has a nice amount of weight to it. I love how I can throw it on with a dress or jeans and look equally chic both ways. The only thing I wish the coat did have are pockets. I’m wearing a size small.

Polka Dots And Tulle

Polka Dot Top c/o || Tulle Skirt c/o (Similar) || Red Scallop Bag || Booties || Hoop Earrings ||

Good morning, friends!  It’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of polka dot prints. They’re not only fun and flirty, but have a vintage charm to them that I absolutely adore. This top in particular has a high neck and feels like a t-shirt, though it is a blouse. It’s has a bodysuit like construction making it perfect for tucking into skirts and jeans/pants alike. Last year I styled some polka dots with blush pinks and red. This year, I went with a high contrast look in black and white and a pop of red. A classic combo. I also styled the top with a pair of skinny jeans and red heels later in the day. Both looks are ideal for Valentine’s Day, which is right around the corner! Below are some quick snaps of the other outfit I wore.

Good afternoon!  Another top I’ve worn multiple times in the past few weeks is this white teddy top with calico buttons. I love how toasty it keeps me while being incredibly versatile with some cute casual styles such as the skinny jeans and boots I have on here or a pair of white skinny jeans with some loafers or flats. I can picture some blush, rose, white, leopard, blue, or red loafers/flats to mix in some color with the look.

I hope everyone has been staying warm! It was in the 30s this past weekend, which actually felt warm compared to the teens and single digits we’ve been having. We’re supposed to have another snow storm tomorrow followed by a blast of artic air...another polar vortex.
