Under The Blossoms

Floral Tea Dress c/o || Similar Pearl Headband || Pink & Blue Co Bracelet c/o || Sandals || Similar Wicker Bag || Circle Hexagon Ring c/o || Ava’s Glitter Circle Bag || Ava’s Dress ||

Happy weekend, friends! Ava and I went to go see Avengers End Game yesterday and man, what an amazing way to end the series! Both of us loved the movie that clocks in at just over three hours. I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat, and I wholeheartedly enjoyed the entire journey I’ve been on with these characters over the past eleven years. What a journey it’s been too. The entire theater clapped at the end, which I always love. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but definitely go see it, especially all of the fans.

This yellow tea dress was a dream to shoot under the weeping cherry blossom tree. With a bowtie at the neck, ruffles, and a floral print, this dress fit right in with romantic charm the trees have. Ava particularly enjoyed playing under them! We both wanted to wear yellow florals too. This is the cutest little number to throw on for a day out or even for a date night. Good morning, everyone! When I first saw this blue polka dot dress, I thought of Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy. From there on out, I was completely sold! Reminiscent of the 1950s, this dress has cute cap sleeves and a self tie bow at the waist. It hits just above my knee and has a slight stretch to it making the fit very comfortable. To complete the retro style, I opted for white accessories, which also remind me of the gorgeous summertime. Whether a picnic in the park or an ice cream date, this look is sure to be sweet. I’m wearing a size small for reference.

The Art Of The Handwritten Note

Blue Lace Dress c/o || Blue Embellished Shoes || Rose Floral Pen || Pink Polka Dot Pen || Hydrangea Stationary || Lighthouse Note Cards || The Art Of The Handwritten Note || Mint Arrow Clipboard || Gold Flower Earrings || Pink & Blue Co. Bracelet c/o ||

Good morning and a very happy Friday, friends! This is a post I have been wanting to do for quite some time now and I am beyond excited to finally have it for you today. I’ve been hand writing notes for as long as I can remember. I used to write very simple ones to my mom and dad when I was younger. I would write to my mom as often as I could once I no longer lived at home. Though she couldn’t write back, she loved to receive them. My dad would read them to her. I wrote to my grandmother quite a bit, to friends and family members, and of course I wrote many love letters over the years. Even with email and texting becoming the norm, my late husband and I would still hand write letters to one another. I would thank friends for having my late husband and I over to their homes or for any gifts received. I would write to simply catch up with family members.

I do realize that I’m talking about physically writing out a note on the very medium that makes note writing seem obsolete. Today’s world consists of instant everything. I believe for that very reason that writing and receiving a hand written note are all the more special and heartfelt. It is something that takes time and a good amount of thought put into it. There is no backspace key or delete button. Writing and sending a note shows the recipient you care about them and you took time out of your busy day to pen the letter. It has more meaning than an email or a phone call, and while those are perfectly fine ways to communicate, especially if a matter is urgent, there is still a personal feeling and indeed an art to writing a note by hand.

I personally like to set my writing area up before I sit down to compose my letter. I always have a cup of coffee or tea on hand to sip while thinking of the words that will eventually reach the page. The pen and paper you choose will set the mood for what you are about to write as well. I will admit that I am a sucker for pretty office sulies, especially pens and stationary. I’m inspired to write when I have a beautiful pen and card to write upon. The paper chosen can express to the reader a message before they even begin to read your letter. The size of the paper, the thickness, is it decorated or have initials on it, and the color all send a subtle message. Even the pen you choose will influence how you write and should make you feel confident when doing so. How the pen feels in your hand and appeals to your eye will make for the perfect combination.

The most common hand written note would be the thank you card. Also, when in doubt, always send one. It’s better to over thank than to not thank at all. Other occasions are love letters, condolences, thinking of you, congratulations, invitations, and a request.

In the very most basic form your note should include the following:

1. The location from where you are writing from

2. The date

3. Salutation (Dear, Hi, Hello!)

4. Text. Three sentences minimum will fill the front of a notecard nicely.

5. Windup Phrase (thank you again, looking forward to seeing you). This is a transition to the closing.

6. Closing (Cheers, Sincerely, Yours, Best, Affectionately). The closing words give the impression of a wave, handshake, hug, or kiss.  “Best” and “Bye” are breezy and impersonal like a wave. “Sincerely” is impersonal and formal like a handshake. “Yours” and “truly yours” are personal and casual like a hug. “Affectionately” and “love” are very personal like a kiss.

7. Signature

I recently picked up The Art Of The Handwritten Note and devoured the book. It’s the perfect compliment to any writing desk and fantastic for someone who would like to start writing notes or write more frequently. It’s where I got some of the information here from. I highly recommend it!

Polka Dots And Tulle

Polka Dot Top c/o || Tulle Skirt c/o (Similar) || Red Scallop Bag || Booties || Hoop Earrings ||

Good morning, friends!  It’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of polka dot prints. They’re not only fun and flirty, but have a vintage charm to them that I absolutely adore. This top in particular has a high neck and feels like a t-shirt, though it is a blouse. It’s has a bodysuit like construction making it perfect for tucking into skirts and jeans/pants alike. Last year I styled some polka dots with blush pinks and red. This year, I went with a high contrast look in black and white and a pop of red. A classic combo. I also styled the top with a pair of skinny jeans and red heels later in the day. Both looks are ideal for Valentine’s Day, which is right around the corner! Below are some quick snaps of the other outfit I wore.

Happy Friday, friends! We woke up to a winter white wonderland after yesterday’s snow storm. It’s the first snow of the season and Ava was quite excited for it, me not as much lol. The new fallen snow has me dreaming of the cheerful holidays ahead and all of the happiness and joy that comes along with them. The holiday season is the perfect time of the year to add a little something special to your wardrobe, this bow dress included! It exudes the perfect amount of classic elegance and charm with the darling bow detail in the back. I can’t help but to think of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s when wearing this. She was the inspiration of this effortlessly chic holiday look.

Feeling Festive

Sweater Dress c/o || JustFab Heels c/o (Similar) || Similar Sequin Clutch || Pink & Blue Co. Bracelet || Jackie Kennedy Earrings ||

Good morning and happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends! I went to go see the Nutcracker and the Four Realms, which definitely put me in the Christmas spirit. I also started and finished watching the series Bodyguard on Netflix. I’m pretty sure it just came out. It’s a good one! It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. My dad and I also went to my church’s roast beef dinner and had the yummiest meal. Did everyone enjoy the extra hour of sleep? I’ve always loved that extra hour of shut eye, but it gets dark early now, which is sad, haha. Daylight is precious.

This red sweater dress, like the Nutcracker, also puts me in the festive spirit! It’s a ribbed material with faux pearls trimmed along the front. The fit and flare style is darling and fun for a bit of a twirl. While the Christmas season comes to mind for this dresss, I’m also thinking of it as something to wear for Thanksgiving too. I’ve always been particularly drawn to a red dress for special occasions, be it a holiday or even a school dance. Fun fact, almost every school dance I went to, I wore a red dress. This one from Chicwish definitely fits the bill!

English Country Style

English Wool Blazer || Turtleneck || Woolrich Deer Print Sweater || Tory Burch Bag || Corduroy Pants || Burgundy OTK Boots Also Similar Here || Pink & Blue Co. Bracelet c/o ||

Good morning! Happy weekend and also welcome to November! I can hardly believe we are so close to the end of 2018. Where did this year go?! I’m excited for the holiday season though and all that comes along with it. For November, there’s obviously celebrating Thanksgiving, but I’m also looking forward to everything and anything that is cozy and bright. Think lots of layering, sweaters, some “extra” razzle dazzle, snuggly blankets, and also my Christmas movie list. It’s good to start rounding those up to start watching after Thanksgiving. We may have even started listening to Christmas tunes too! No judging lol.

Now, onto this English Country inspired look. This is actually my favorite fall outfit that I’ve styled this year! The color combination, with this stand out blazer, and all of the layering are what make me love this so much. The ensemble has a proper feel while still being relaxed and even a bit playful with the cute deer print on the Woolrich sweater. Jeans would also be an excellent choice for the outfit, but I feel the warm brandy color of the corduroys packs a beautiful color punch. The piece I am head over heels for is this English Wool blazer. My inspiration came from my grandma and grandpa Kretchmer, who were the epitome of the country gentleman and lady. I kept thinking of them and the classic English country looks when putting this look together. This gorgeous coat just came out and is very similar to the blazer, though as a topcoat. The color is just stunning!

Plaid Tweed Skirt

Navy Pea Coat || Plaid Skirt c/o || Burgundy OTK Boots || Camel Turtleneck || Similar Kate Spade Bag || JFK Coin Necklace || Jackie Kennedy Emerald Earrings ||

Happy Friday, friends! This skirt from Chicwish combines two of my favorite fashion things about fall, plaid and tweed. I do feel the sizing is a bit off. I would recommend sizing down for a good fit. I got my normal XS and was practically swimming in it. That being said, the skirt itself is gorgeous and blends right in with all of falls stunning colors. While some may start to shy away from skirts with the cooler weather, it was a particularly cool and windy day when taking these photos, I say full speed ahead with skirts and dresses alike! I love wearing OTK boots with a skirt to help with the cold. An added bonus, OTK styles elongate your legs. Something is on the shorter side certainly appreciate.

I hope everyone has a spook-tacular weekend! Happy Halloween if your celebrating early!

A Fall Time Mix

Olive Top || Similar Jean Jacket || Banana Republic Skirt (Old, Similar) || Kate Spade Mules || Similar Leopard Clutch ||

Good morning and a very happy Wednesday to you! As soon as the temperatures start to dip, I pull out all of my jackets and even heavier coats since I know the freezing cold is not too far behind, especially if you live in PA. Right now I’ve been sporting some lighter weight jackets, like this denim one, and blazers for a practical layered look. We might be getting snow this weekend so that heavier coats will be making an appearance sooner than I anticipated! In any case, today’s look is a Fall favorite of mine. It’s an elevated casual style with a mix of prints and colors that come together beautifully. This plaid skirt has been a staple of mine every single autumn. A similar wrap version is here. Adding to the mix is this olive green top that fits rediculously well. Perfect for layering or wearing alone with a pair of jeans. I wore the top recently when visiting one of the local county fairs with a pair of leopard loafers, blue skinny jeans, and a cognac bag.

On a side note, I want to congratulate Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific on her gorgeous collaboration with Halogen and Nordstrom. The pieces are true examples of her style with key pieces literally selling out within minutes of going live. I’m looking at you pink double breasted blazer. The collection is a work of art. Congrats again Blair!

Feeling Fancy Friday

Tweed Dress c/o || Vintage Hat || Similar Bow Pumps || Similar Bag || Jackie Kennedy Pearl Earrings || Pink & Blue Co. Bracelet c/o ||

Good morning and happy Friday, everyone!  I always feel at my very best when I’m dressed in a ladylike ensemble. Anything that reminds me of the time period between 1940-1960 thrills me to no end. This tweed dress from Chicwish,  adorned with pearl buttons and trimmed with fringe, has a classic elegant aura about it that works seamlessly for events ranging from business chic to dining out with friends. The perfect topper to complete the look is a vintage hat that Ava fell in love with during the shoot. She ended up wearing it for the majority of the time. She does look pretty chic in it if I do say so myself!

Country Weekend

Woolrich Shirt Jac || AG Skinny Jeans|| Woolrich Rose Turtleneck || Tory Burch Riding Boots || Similar Kate Spade Bag || Similar Leopard Belt ||

Good morning, friends! One of my most trusted brands that I wear in the cooler months is Woolrich. It’s a company that originated in my home state of Pennsylvania and one that is synanomous with autumn and winter. A few years ago my dad and I started what is now a yearly tradition of traveling down to Woolrich, PA to visit their store and pick up some new pieces, usually outerwear, for the upcoming fall season. This year was a true treasure find with this shirt jac in rich beautiful vibrant colors. For those not familiar with a shirt jac, it’s a heavier shirt style meant to be worn as a layering piece. It’s perfect for those crisp mornings and nights. It’s not as heavy as a typical jacket and should have a shirt underneath. Typically, a shirt jac is left unbuttoned. It’s been a fan favorite for generations now. My dad loves to tell me about his favorite shirt jac when he was a kid and also how my grandfather had the full traditional hunting outfit in the famous red and black buffalo check pattern. I  paired mine with a dusty rose Turtleneck (my favorite layering price!) and some riding boots for the ultimate casual country weekend outfit.

The Classic Fall Fabric That Never Goes Out Of Style

Sail To Sable Tweed Dress c/o || Similar Kate Spade Bag || Karen Walker Sunglasses || Pink & Blue Co. Bracelet c/o || Cognac Heels || Engraved Ring ||

Good morning and happy Friday, friends! If there is one fall fabric that has never gone out of style and I dare say would be considered a “trend” every year, it’s tweed. Visions of an elegantly dressed Coco Chanel always come to mind when thinking of this staple item. I always get a bit nostalgic when gazing upon tweed items. Be it a tweed dress, skirt, blazer, bag, or shoe, the fabric, much like the season it represents, seems to bring me a sense of wistful romantic notions and a longing for the good ol’ days. Each tweed piece has a timeless feeling about it just like this dress from Sail To Sable, a brand that evokes a sense of classic whimsy with a nod to New England style. This particular dress has cap sleeves (a favorite of mine!) with a custom designed plaid pattern in bold blue and green. The fringe right above the hemline adds a fun detail to the whole look!

Happy Thursday, friends! Every now and then I like to showcase some more casual looks that you’d find me in while doing chores or running some errands around town. My style tends to err on the dressy side, but that doesn’t mean you won’t see me in a simple sweater and jeans. While this look is casual, it’s still perfectly polished with a cool ease about it. The details of the ensemble, specifically the bows, give this look an extra little something special.

Good morning, friends! If there’s one color that’s been dominating my fall wardrobe as of late, it’s this mustard shade. It pairs beautifully with all of autumn’s dazzling colors and brightens the dreariest of days. It also is a figure friendly fit and flare style, my eternal favorite, especially for doing a little twirl in! Good morning and happy Tuesday! Fall officially arrived this past weekend with a cool crispness to the air that was oh so appropriate. I couldn’t wait to wear this tassel embellished shift dress from Chicwish. Purple has been a reigning color in my wardrobe this year with no end in sight. This shift dress is lightweight making it essential to layer for some added warmth. Aside from the beautiful color combination, the tassel embellished faux pockets make my heart sing! Who doesn’t love a good embellishment?! The detail gives the dress that extra bit of glam.

Good morning! One of my favorite things about Fall is feeling cozy whether I’m wrapped up at home in a blanket or wearing a soft sweater to keep the chill at bay. While I don’t typically wear too many cardigans, they are a great way to layer and this one was too cute to pass up. The colors are gorgeous and it has  a nice weight to it. This will certainly keep you quite warm! It’s best to keep the rest of your look simple when wearing this cardigan since it’s a standout piece.

The Colors That Make Me Happy

Blush Turtleneck || Mustard Skirt c/o || LC Lauren Conrad Blazer (Old, Similar) || Karen Walker Sunglasses || Embroidered Bag || Velvet Heels || J.Crew Necklace (Old) || Ava Bracelet || Jackie Kennedy Emerald Earrings ||

Good morning, friends! I always feel my best when I’m wearing a certain color or color combination that I love. They brighten my mood and put a smile on my face. I tend not shy away from wearing pastels in the fall and winter nor do I from wearing mustard or an olive green in the spring and summer. Simply put, if a color makes you happy, rock it whenever you want! I honestly did not even realize until I was putting this post together that I was wearing all of my favorite colors and ones that have meaning for me. It was an outfit to cheer up a day that started out very gray and dull (the sun came out towards the end of the day much to everyone’s surprise.)

I have an old dress from Modcloth I like to call my lemonade dress. It’s a punchy pink on top with a bow tie neck and a bright yellow pleated skirt. It is one of my all time favorites and served as inspiration for this particular look. I started with the mustard circle skirt, that flows and swish’s so very beautifully, topped off with a very lightweight blush turtleneck. As soon as the weather starts to cool,  I bring out all of my turtlenecks, which are my go-to for simple layering. These velvet heels not only feel incredibly comfortable to wear, but they're also chic and add a bit of luxe to any ensemble. The color online says taupe, but to me and just about everyone else who saw them, they look purple, another special and sentimental color for me. It was my mother’s favorite and one that will always remind me of her. The navy bag adds a feminine touch with its stunning embroidered floral design in shades of pink and green. Last, but not least, the burgundy knit blazer. This is another piece I’ve had from LC Lauren Conrad for many years. Its a workhorse blazer in my closet. I’ve worn it so many times and it never disappoints. The color adds such richness to an outfit.

Sunday Best In September

Green Waterfall Dress c/o || Melie Bianco Bag (Old, Similar) || Jackie Kennedy Emerald Earrings || Crystal Link Bracelet || Tweed Bow Shoes ||

Good morning and happy Tuesday, friends! Welcome to September as well!! I hope everyone had a lovely Labor Day weekend. Summer’s last hurrah was well spent in my neck of the woods. My family and I had our traditional cookout, got some sale shopping in, spent time at the lake, and went to Jim Thorpe for some outdoor activities and strolling around town. I was impressed with the one coffee shop there called Muggles Mug. The theme throughout is Harry Potter (along with rock music) and even the drinks are Harry Potter themed! I got the butterbeer latte, which was butterscotch flavored and oh so delicious! A definite must for any Potter fan. It was overall a fantastic holiday weekend spent with loved ones.

A few days ago I spotted this beautiful field filled with goldenrod and sunshine. It instantly reminded me of fall! It was the perfect backdrop for some close up photos of this green waterfall dress. September’s weather can be all over the place, especially in the beginning when the temperature’s still on the warmer side. This weekend was a perfect example with some days being in the high 60s and then some being in the high 80s approaching 90s. On the warmer days, I like to wear autumn hues and details in my look, while still being able to keep cool in lighter fabrics like this dress. It’s runs true to size and works wonderfully as an evening dress or for your Sunday best!

Olive Bow Skirt

Good morning, friends! While my love for dresses knows no bounds and I do find them to be an easy creation of the perfect outfit, I also have quite an affinity for skirts. Their versatility and creativity make them a fun alternative to the all in one outfit. This olive bow skirt is one of those pieces that captures the feel of fall and seamlessly works with a variety of styles. Imagine the skirt with a black and white striped top, leopard pumps, and a mustard bag. Or how about a creamy white sweater, navy coat and bag, and cognac boots. Even a simple white or black tee with some flats (in a pop of color!) would look great. Also, POCKETS!! Anytime I see pockets on a dress or skirt ~swoon~ I’m sold! I went with a chambray top that is soooo comfy and soft. They are some of the best button down shirts that I own. Also, a cognac bag (my go-to for fall) and some strappy sandals
