Happy Memorial Day and Happy Birthday to Us!

^^^ One of my most favorite photos. This is in front of the JFK museum in Hyannis. This was taken early in the morning on May 29, 2014 (our birthday!) My dad took this and captured the scene perfectly. The sun peeked out through the clouds just at that very moment. It's one of my most treasured memories.

My parents are the best! They got this cake made up for me with an image of JFK on it saying "Happy Birthday To Us." Needless to say, that was the best birthday cake ever. It's hard to believe this was 11 years ago.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! I hope everyone enjoys their cookouts with friends and family and maybe even sneaking in some Memorial Day sales as well!

Today also happens to be my 29th birthday and also John F. Kennedy's 100th birthday. There are so many centennial celebrations going on right now for his 100th birthday (check out the hashtag #jfk100) and I am ecstatic that I'll be able to partake in them at the Boston and the Hyannis Museums! When you're getting to know me, one of the first things I'll tell you is that JFK and I share the same birthday, thank you mom! It is one of the coolest things ever for me. A fun fact, there are other members of my family that share presidential birthday's as well. We're a very presidential family, haha!

When I was younger, images of JFK were actually all around me, though I didn't know who he was at the time. My mom was a big JFK Jr. fan and she had some clippings of him taped onto her mirror along with magazines of him (sexiest man alive lol.) As I got older, I realized that I shared my birthday with JFK when I looked at the calendar my school teacher had on his wall and saw that May 29th had JFK written on it. I knew he was a famous president, but did not know much other than that. I started doing research on him, reading and watching anything I could get my hands on. I instantly fell in love. My first big JFK moment was when my dad took me to the JFK Library and Museum in Boston for my 18th birthday. I could not believe my eyes! Whether you like history or JFK, this museum is a must. The views are spectacular too. Next came my first trip with my dad to Hyannis and Cape Cod in 2013 for my 25th birthday. Our first stop was to the JFK museum on Main Street. We went around town seeing all of the JFK highlights (they have a walking tour) and ended our first night at the Kennedy Memorial with the sun setting behind us shinning out onto the bay. That trip holds a very special place in my heart. 

There is no one that has captured my heart (of course we're talking celebrity wise here) more than John. F. Kennedy. He truly is an inspiration for me. He provides hope of achieving the impossible, hope for a brighter tomorrow, hope to never give up on your dreams. His quick wit always make me smile and laugh and his charm is so swoon worthy. His style and grace even inspires my own today. He was a champion of peace, equality, and justice. He challenged us to be the best we could be. He wanted us to go to the moon, not because it was easy, but because it was hard. He knew that we could accept this challenge, turn it into an opportunity, and succeed. 

It is with a happy heart that I say Happy 100th birthday JFK! I cannot wait to celebrate with my family. Cheers to a fabulous Memorial Day for everyone too.

Happy Wednesday, friends! Memorial Day is right around the corner and it actually falls on my birthday this year! With the holiday nearing, I automatically started pulling out all of my finest red, white, and blue pieces. I always tend to dress very patriotic with a preppy side for Memorial Day. It's also a time when I want to be near the water. There's something very soothing and peaceful about being around a lake, the ocean, or even a stream. I've always been drawn to them. I think JFK said it best when he said:

“All of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going back from whence we came." -John F. Kennedy

A lake was the perfect backdrop for this pleated ensemble, which is on sale! Both the top and skirt are from Banana Republic Factory, though I could not find the top online. I picked up both pieces in the store and both fit true to size. I couldn't help but swish and twirl the skirt a few times too. It's irresistable!

Mommy And Me Valentine's Day

Oh my little Ava bug. These are always my favorite kinds of posts to do. The whole time I was like, oh I love you so much Ava and she kept eyeing the cupcakes haha. She had cake on her first birthday, but this was the first time she had cupcakes and let me tell you, she LOVED them! As you can see from most of the photos, she's holding one and has icing all over her mouth. They were Ava approved! I tried to get our dresses to match as best I could too. I really want to find a store that specializes in matching mother daughter outfits. My dress is an old one from Modcloth. Ava's is a recent one from The Children's Place.

Every Valentine's Day I pretty much prepare the same treats and make sure the house has pretty flowers throughout it. While many feel this may be a "hallmark" holiday, I see it as a day to celebrate all of the love you have in your life. In grade school, we handed out valentines to our friends and as we grew older, we started celebrating with significant others. Happy 1st Birthday Ava!

To My Darling Ava,

Happy first birthday! I can hardly believe that one year has passed since the day you came into our lives and made our world a better place filled with light, hope, laughter, kisses and coos. Your smile is my sunshine. You're becoming such a beautiful and smart little girl with an independent spirit that is curious and adventurous. Speaking of adventure, we've been on quite a few already and I cannot wait to continue to show you all the most loveliest things life has to offer. It's been quite a year to say the least. We've had some sad moments and also many happy ones to keep us going each day. You're daddy gets to watch you from heaven now and see the beautiful little girl you have grown into. He has become our guardian angel walking along side of us in spirit. You have filled my life with a love I did not know existed until now. Happy Friday and Memorial Day weekend! This weekend is all about spending time with family and friends while partaking in cookouts, fun in the sun, bon fires, smores, laughter, and good times. I cannot wait for the unofficial start of summer to get here! After a long winter, I always gladly welcome the first summer holiday with wide open arms. The weather is supposed to feel just like summer too with temps in the upper 80s and high humidity, though I could do without the extreme high humidity. It's been a bit sticky feeling these past few days.

To beat the heat, I opted for a chiffon tank that is one of my closet staples in the summer. You can never go wrong with endless amounts of ways to style it. I obviously went patriotic with a red, white, and blue theme in honor of the weekend festivities. Even Ava wanted to join in with the theme. I actually wish her dress came in an adult size because I would totally wear it! The tutu and glitter anchor print absolutely capture my heart. How adorable is the Endless Summer tote bag too?! That specific print is sold out, but I found similar ones from the same company listed above and below. If only summer were endless. The triple pearl ear jacket earrings I have on here have an understated modern elegance to them. Pearls never go out of style and this silhouette keeps them looking new and fresh. Spring Formal

Happy Monday, friends! It's that time of year when guys and dolls start thinking about what to wear to their spring formal or prom. Planning for my own prom was stressful enough and I made sure to have enough time to get all of the details figured out. What style of dress did I want? What color and length? How did I want my hair to look? What type of shoes should I wear? This was the one night I would be able to get all dressed up and feel like a princess heading to a ball. I remember how excited and nervous I was at the same time. I had a blast dancing with my date and some of my friends, while also snapping some photos to capture the memories. It is funny to look back at the photos though haha. I was blown away at how different I look and how much my style has changed. Unfortunately, I do not have a full length photo of the dress. I do have one somewhere in an album at my parents house, but not one saved on my hard drive. It was actually my favorite part because of how flowy it was. Make sure to check out some throwback photos below!

If I could do it all over again, I would definitely wear this dress.  The detailing is exquisite and the full tulle skirt is the stuff that dreams are made of (extra points if you can tell me what movie that line is from!) The top has a soft blush hue with pink sequins and a sexy little cut out hole in the back. That's another reason why I'm so in love with this dress. It's modest, yet has an alluring back and some of the most beautiful detailing I've seen. No lie when I say that this is one of my most favorite dresses that I own. I wanted to wear my hair up for this look because of the back, but usually for every dance I would leave my hair down and curled.

One of my last Valentine's Day looks is how we usually spend the holiday. Cuddled up inside being cozy and enjoying some sweet treats, wine, and dinner. I've always loved making some type of dessert from frosted brownies, cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, and cookies. Even though we may be staying in, I still like to get dressed up in a skirt and a comfy sweater. This midi skirt has just the right amount of flare and pretty pink and red roses, which are perfect for the holiday. Valentine's Day would not be complete without little Ava! She's my special Valentine now. I bought the dress she's wearing when I was still pregnant and thought how beautiful she would be in it for Valentine's Day. Thankfully she fits into it haha. The wine I'm drinking is my absolute favorite. It's from Bully Hill called Ravat 51. We always pick some up when we visit the Finger Lakes. It's sweet with a pineapple taste. The Beauty and the Beast plates and wine decanter were picked up on our last trip to Disney World in 2013. I bring them out for special occasions. It's my favorite Disney Princess movie!

Oh sequins, how I love thee. I'm always looking for ways to incorporate a bit of sparkle into my looks whether for everyday, a holiday, or special night out. This would be another great look for Valentine's Day. The sequin skirt is so glam and pretty, while the creamy white sweater keeps the look grounded and keeps you warm during the colder months. This skirt would also be great with a bright vibrant top, but for this I wanted to keep everything on the softer side. A nice little side note, wearing sparkly pieces can evoke a sense of joy. Worn with grounded pieces (think denim, a cable knit sweater, or something casual,) sequin pieces make every day a party!

2015 In Review

Happy New Year dearest friends and readers. It's been an incredible year and I thank you so much for your continued support. I'm eternally grateful for the opportunities I've been given and the support I've received. The highlight of my year without a doubt would be the birth of my baby Ava. I cannot believe she is almost 5 months old already! Where is the time going?! I wish everyone a blessed New Year and cheers to 2016!

New Years Eve Inspiration

Happy Monday, friends! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas holiday and weekend. This was little Ava's first Christmas and it went wonderfully. She got some books, toys, and clothes from Santa and loved ones. The day went by so quickly between opening presents, visiting family and friends, and enjoying the Christmas dinner. All that being said and done, there really is nothing like getting together with the people you care about and spending some quality time while reminiscing about the good ol' days and dreaming of what the future has in store.

Speaking of the future, New Years Eve is right around the corner (where has the time gone?!) which means lots of fun and sparkly looks! If you've been following me for a while, then you know I love a good sequin. I get so excited about a little bit of sparkle! Be it from a blazer or pant, sequins always jazz up an outfit which is perfect for NYE. Also, a little black dress is always in style and will never disappoint. The bow back detail above adds a fun twist and is anything but boring. It's actually a shirt and skit, but looks like a dress.

Happy Wednesday, friends! So it is the eve of Christmas Eve and I am so happy to FINALLY be done gift shopping haha! I was out yesterday helping my brother finish up his gifts and him finally picking out a gift for himself. Let me tell you though, it was complete madness at the stores. The Christmas rush is on!

With all things Christmas on my mind, I chose this plaid dress with beading along the collar and pockets (I forgot to photograph them!) that instantly has me dreaming of cozy family gatherings, baking cookies, exchanging gifts, and signing carols. Plaid is such a classic print and one that feels so festive. What really got me though was the beautiful beading along the white collar. Pretty little details like that simply make me swoon.

Happy Cyber Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends. If you were not celebrating Thanksgiving, then I hope you had an amazing weekend! My dad and I took Ava down to see the annual tree lighting in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. We lucked out with the weather. It was in the mid 60s during the day and low 50s at night. Ivory Pearl Dress || Similar Gold Heels ||

This past weekend Justin and I headed over to the local college campus to shoot photos of us with baby Ava. We wanted to have some nice family photos while Ava is still a little newborn. The weather was gorgeous and could not have been more perfect. Looks like summer finally decided to come back after the cold snap we had. I wanted something soft and feminine to wear for the shoot and knew lace dress would fit the bill. It has lace, a tulle skirt, and pearl detailing along the chest. I could not be happier with how they turned out. I love this little family I have now. If only Chelsea could have been in these with us!
