Bell Sleeves & Cape

Cape c/o || Bell Sleeve Top c/o || Thigh High Socks c/o || LC Lacuren Conrad Skirt, Old, Similar || Oxford Shoes || Vince Camuto Bag || Bow Belt || Freyrs Sunglasses c/o || Jackie Kennedy Unity Band ||

This outfit reminds me of something Blair from Gossip Girl would wear, which I totally love. The ruffle/bell sleeve look is still a huge trend going strong right now. It's the statement piece of any outfit. This top is only $14.99 too, a great price to add some flair to your wardrobe. Instead of going with your traditional tights, I opted to wear some thigh high socks with oxford shoes. It has the same effect that wearing over the knee boots would, basically to keep your legs warm and create an elongated look. You know that I'm all about little details and the scalloped edges on this cape are seriously cute. I do wish that the cape was made from a thicker material. It would be better suited for fall seeing as how it is not very warm.

This past weekend was quite an exciting one! First, thank you to my dad for taking these photos with his camera! I surprised my dad with his Christmas present, a trip to New York City to see The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. My mom and dad went every year to go see the show and it became one of their favorite traditions to look forward to. My dad took my brother and I twice before when we were younger as well. When thinking about his gift this year, I wanted it to be something special and instantly thought of the Spectacular. It has a lot of meaning and memories of happy times for my family. I know he and my mom had also brought their parents and their friends to go see The Christmas Spectacular too. It was something near and dear to their hearts. We both truly enjoyed the show. It really is an amazing experience and my goodness, those Rockettes!! They've always been my favorite part. I love when they line up and do their synchronized kicks. You leave the theater in the warmest of Christmas spirits. I know we both teared up during the show thinking about my mom too. As soon as the Rockettes came on I teared up a bit. She absolutely loved them and its hard not to think of her when watching them.

The rest of the day we spent walking around and exploring the city. Of course, we went down to Rockefeller Plaza to see the Christmas tree. There was a bit of a nip in the air, haha, so I made sure to bundle up in layers. The cozy scarf and hat really made all  the difference in keeping me warm. I love how regal the navy peacoat looks too. The gold buttons remind me of twinkling stars against a midnight blue sky. Since I knew we would be walking around all day, I wanted to wear flats, but something a bit more substantial and something that would cover more of my feet against the cold. Enter these streamlined and sleek oxfords. Honestly, I've never been more in love with a pair of menswear inspired shoes. Ladies of NYC, this is an absolute must for you! I wore them all day and had no issues with rubbing or sores. We went to The Plaza to grab a bite to eat before watching the nightlife of NYC pass us by. The city comes alive at night and its my favorite time to witness. I adore how the city simply sparkles, especially with all of its festivities at Christmas. Needless to say, my dad and I both had an amazing time with some many wonderful memories to look back upon.

Happy Tuesday, loves! While I love to wear a dress or skirt, actually adore, there's something incredibly sexy and chic about wearing menswear inspired items. This look nods to the formal tux with a feminine spin and of course a little bit of sparkle for that special night out. I'm head over heels for this gold jacket too! It can be dressed down with some jeans or worn with a fit a flare dress for some added posh. I'm wearing an XS for reference. It's only $23.99 too. It makes a great statement piece so make sure to keep the rest of the outfit neutral.

One of the Boys

Menswear inspired fashion is everywhere and quite a classic at that. Kathrine Hepburn started the idea of women being able to wear what men wear and gasp, back in the 1930s that simply meant wearing pants or trousers. While my style is feminine and romantic, a great way to add some menswear inspiration is through accessories, or adding one detail like the blue button down shirt I have on. For this outfit I wanted to keep the proportions at 50/50. My buckle stacked heels, briefcase style bag, and blue button down shirt are inspired by the boys while my pleated floral skirt, pearl necklace, and pearl earrings are quint essentially feminine. I like the balance between the two styles and think it makes a refreshing outfit with lovely classic pieces.
