In honor of my baby shower being tomorrow I thought this would be the perfect day to share some of the maternity photos I took with Justin during the July 4th holiday weekend. I love how they turned out even with the sun deciding to be shy about a quarter way through. Also, I thought it would be fun to share some of my pregnancy moments below.

Finding Out: I found out I was pregnant right after Thanksgiving. We had been trying for a few months and I decided to take another test just for the heck of it. When I saw the positive result, I literally almost passed out! My heart started beating so fast and I started shaking. The smile on my face was so big. Justin was working late that night so I was all alone, but I wanted him to be the first to find out the good news.

Telling Justin: I decided since the Christmas season had started that I would tell Justin in a very unique way. I got the two tests that I took, wrapped ribbon around them, and then placed them into a small gift box with a bow on it. This is of course after I cleaned them off haha. Once he got home, my excitement was going through the roof, I told him that I had an early gift for him that should be opened right away. I'll never forget the range of emotions that crossed his face all at once when he opened his little surprise.

The First Trimester: After all of the excitement and breaking the news to close family members, my morning sickness started immediately. I was out of commission the whole time. Justin was so nervous seeing me like that. Remarkably, I did make a trip down to Washington D.C. a few days before Christmas, but boy was that tough to get through. My nausea was an all day every day kind of thing. I could barely move or eat anything. Around week 12 the symptoms started to subside and I felt more like myself again. Hearing little baby Ava's heart beat for the first time was one of the best moments of the first trimester. I could not believe my little one was inside there growing. It made my pregnancy feel real.

The Second Trimester: The best you'll feel throughout the whole pregnancy! I started to have energy again and was able to eat food without being sickened by the sight or smell of it. Justin and I took our Baby Moon to California and had the best time. It was out last big trip together before Ava arrives. As soon as we got back from our trip, we had the ultrasound appointment scheduled to find out the gender. I was so anxious to know and completely overjoyed when I heard it was a girl. Seeing her on the screen for the first time was unbelievable. I could not stop starring at it!

The Third Trimester: Starting to get bigger and actually showing. I was not showing too much until May when my third trimester hit. Back and rib pain started along with tons of acid reflux, especially at night. I'm still able to do everything, just at a slightly slower pace. There was also a 1 month stretch where I could not sleep at all! Not one wink. That was pretty tough. The restless feeling is not something I would never want to have again. Thankfully now I am able to get some sleep, even with the nightly bathroom visits. I was able to go on a weekend trip up to Hyannis with my dad, which was so special to me. This was our last big trip before Ava arrives. The Cape is one of my favorite places and it means the world that my dad was able to make this happen. I did not have any intense food cravings throughout the pregnancy either. The closest thing would be watermelon. Now it's just a waiting game and being prepared for when my labor starts.

We're so very excited to meet our little girl. I can hardly wait!
