Embroidered Jean Jacket // Jean on Jean

Good morning, friends! It's hard to believe I was wearing this outfit only a few days ago and now there is one foot of snow on the ground! The weather has been all over the place, can you tell how windy it was when I was shooting this?!, but I'm hoping this is the last of the snow and Spring will officially be on its way.

Yesterday's post was all about incorporating an embroidered top into your wardrobe for an easy casual spring outfit and some tips on how to transition it to a wear to work outfit. Today follows the same theme with an embroidered jean jacket, which is an absolute go-to for me for most of the year. Jean jackets are one of those staple pieces that never go out of style and always look effortlessly chic. This one is for $30 and looks great with a variety of different looks. Think a little black dress with this jacket over it or paired with a gray sweater and some black skinny jeans. I went with a jean on jean look, which looks good when you pair a darker and lighter pair together, a white button down, and some striped sneaks. I also straightened my hair for the first time in about 14 years using this straightener. I typically leave my hair naturally wavy or curl it. I actually like how it turned out! I may start straightening my hair more often now.

Fancy Feet

One of my favorite things about fashion is being able to mix and match different types of styles to make an outfit. Here, I'm mixing casual and fancy for a cute transitional look. On that note, happy September! The striped dress is a thicker material with a 3/4 sleeve. Perfect for fall weather. The weather was deliciously cool yesterday so I threw on a jean jacket, which is the one item I continually grab for once fall hits. I'm wearing a size XS in the dress and felt very comfortable in it. Totally a staple item and for only $15.99! Now, onto these gorgeous vintage inspired fancy shoes. Oh, my heart fills with joy every time I look at them! They fit true to size and are completely comfy to wear. I had mine on all day walking around and would not complain about them. They are a mary-jane style with an almond toe and the prettiest floral jewels that sparkle and shimmer beautifully. So eye catching! The block heel is also a big trend for fall.

Transitional Suede

Over the past few days we've been having some cooler weather, thank goodness!, so I've been able to wear some of my favorite transitional looks. To me, this is everyday cozy chic. You can never beat having a white sweater on hand to cuddle into. They're great for layering in the winter too. This one from Down East Basics is sooo soft with a slightly over sized fit. It would actually be perfect with some leggings. I opted for these suede shorts from South Moon Under, which is one of my fave stores to stop in! There is one in Rehoboth Beach that I visit when in the area and also one (where i got these shorts) at the National Harbor. Suede is HUGE for fall, especially with a nod to the 70s trend. I'm not necessarily one for the 70s vibe, but I do love how the updated pieces have a polished feel that's very chic. The suede feels buttery soft and the cut out details are so cute!

Little Black Dress

Happy Friday, friends! One item that every woman should own is a little black dress. It is a staple piece made famous by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. If you haven't seen the movie, stop what you are doing are go watch it! This strapless style from Humble Chic has a nice thick fabric that looks and feels wonderful. Lets not forget the fit and flare skirt! Unfortunately, this specific dress is sold out currently, but should be replaced soon. I wanted to wear the dress out for daytime and decided to throw on a jean jacket over it. This keeps the look casual while still being polished. The pops of pink add some feminine flair. I'm literally obsessed with these shoes too! I love the slip ons with a wrap style bow and the gorgeous shade of pink.

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend? I'll be taking a little trip to Washington D.C. to see the sights and visit with some relatives. I'm definitely excited to be doing some traveling.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Today I'm partnering with ThredUP to bring you my spring cheat sheet for updating your closet when the warmer weather finally hits. Fingers crossed that it is soon! Would you believe all of these key pieces together cost under $100?! They're name brands too ranging from J.Crew, New York & Co, Steve Madden, H&M, and C.Wonder. I am all about that!

This would be my everyday polished casual look. Spring to me is all about lightening up the colors of my outfits and and layering, which is absolutely key since the temperature changes throughout the day. One of my favorite pieces to throw on is a jean jacket. It's a fun casual piece that matches just about everything in your wardrobe and will keep you warm in the morning and evenings. You can never go wrong with it! Another piece you can never go wrong with is a striped top. Since its spring, I opted for a colorful one in pink. This is such a classic piece that can be worn dressed up or down. You'll grab for it every time. My next item is a white eyelet skirt. You can also choose a pair of white skinnies or shorts if you live in a warmer area. The same idea here goes with the lighter colors and the feeling of being fresh and renewed. Nothing feels or looks fresher than crisp white. The eyelet detail is one that instantly says spring or summer. I love putting on a pair of fun flats when I'm running around or heading to an event that requires a lot of walking. Think an amusement park or taking a trip to New York City, all of which are things I usually do when spring hits! Fuchsia is beautifully bright and instantly puts a smile on my face. It goes with all of springs wonderful blooms of color too. To finish updating your closet for spring, try out a crossbody bag in either a neutral or pop of color. I've really been loving crossbody's lately since I'm using carrying Ava everywhere with me. I need both hands! Below is list of all the key pieces.

Key Pieces For Spring:

1. Jean Jacket (layering)

2. Striped Top (fun color)

3. White skirt (or jeans)

4. Colorful flats

5. Crossbody bag (neutral or pop of color)
