Darth Vader Pumpkin Kit || Pumpkin Kits ||

Happy Monday, friends! First off, the biggest congratulations to my cousin Chris and his new bride Julie on their beautiful wedding this past weekend! It was an amazingly lovely event filled with love and happiness. I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. It’s rare to find two people so perfect for one another and these two are it.

Halloween is fast approaching and my little Ava bug is extremely excited! I’ll give you two guesses who she is going to be, lol. This year we decided to go with a pumpkin decorating kit as the main “big” pumpkin with her favorite love Mr. Darth Vader. What I love about these kits is how easy they are and how you can re-use the parts for the following year. Darth came with black paint, a paint sponge, his head, two arms, and chest plate. We got ours at Target for $10. Once the paint was dry, I made small holes in the pumpkin to push the pieces into. I saw online some people used a decorative black pumpkin from a craft store like Michael’s instead of a real one, but we went with the real deal. After the pieces were in, we touched up some of the paint where it was sparse and voila! A pretty cool Vader pumpkin was born. Needless to say, Ava LOVES it! It’s a good idea for any last minute pumpkin decorating too. Happy decorating!!

A very happy Easter Monday, friends! I hope everyone had a joyous Easter weekend. He is risen, alleluia!! I wanted to share some of my favorite parts from this past holiday weekend. We started with an Easter egg hunt in the backyard and then dyed some eggs, which we later decorated some of Ava’s favorite characters. My dad’s birthday was this past Tuesday, happy birthday dad!, so we celebrated his birthday along with the holiday. Easter Sunday started with church, then a hunt for some baskets the bunny left for Ava, followed by a lunch that I hosted. We lucked out with kind of spring like weather so some walks were also included. It’s wonderul to breathe in the fresh air! It actually snowed last night. It looks a little more like Christmas than Easter right now, but hopefully the couple of inches will melt quickly. I hope everyone has a great start to your week!

Good morning and happy February 1st! It is officially the month of love and what better way to kick it off than with a little Galentine’s Day Party. Just the “gals” here hence, Galentine’s lol. Ava and I spent the better part of a day celebrating and having our yearly party. We started with putting on our makeup and then getting dressed up. Ava picked out her own accessories and was very excited the whole time. The anticipation of it all! This has always been my favorite post to do throughout the entire year and one I always look forward to. Then we set the table together and lastly baked the cookies. She helped spread the icing and sprinkle on the sprinkles, all while enjoying eating some in the process, haha. Ava kept saying it was a tea party and honestly, we’ve been having little tea parties every day since then. Every meal happens at the dining table so why not make it pretty and fun?! After taking some photos, we dug in to all of the goodies and had some girl chats talking about the things we love. The heart ballon has a nice little story behind it. We were out the day before picking up the roses for the party, when a worker at the store just fell in love with Ava. He ended up cutting this ballon down from one of the displays and giving it to her, which was incredibly sweet! Thank you! This was one of the best days I’ve had and couldn't have spent it with a better gal than my little Ava. Cheers to all of the loved ones in your life! <3

Good morning and happy Thursday, friends! This was such a fun post to put together. Christmas songs are one of the most magical and fun parts of the Christmas season. You only get to listen to them for a short while, though I know some people who listen to them throughout the year, haha. The list would be a mile long if I included all of them! There are the stand by classics, some newer editions, and maybe even some you may not have heard before. Framebridge Bamboo Frame c/o || Framebridge Richmond Frame c/o || Pink Blush Dress c/o sold out ( Similar Here) ||

If anyone knows me, then they know how much I love photographs. They are moments captured in time, the romance of life passing by, to be remembered for a lifetime. I've slowly been putting the finishing touches on Ava's room and these frames are the icing on the cake. The colors for her room are blush, white, and gold. I've used plenty of white frames throughout my house, but have always wanted some gold ones. Enter Framebridge; a custom framing company that allows you to either upload your images digitally or send in the photographs through the mail. The two larger frames are the Richmond series and the smaller photo uploaded from my instragram is the Mandalay bamboo series. Each are absolutely stunning and stand out beautifully. When I opened up the package and saw the framed photographs, I had the biggest smile on my face. Each one of the photos is a precious memory of my family that I hold very dear. Gorgeously framed photographs are a wonderful gift to give, whether for an upcoming holiday or celebratory event such as father's day, graduation or even just a happy surprise for a friend or loved one.

How cute are these accessories from Ankit?! The mint and pink headphones are right up my alley with the pretty florals and beautiful color combo. I've been using them lately to listen to some music when I'm relaxing at night or when Ava is taking a nap. I've actually been wanting a pair like these since I only have the ear bud style, which end up hurting after a while. These are comfortable and stylish to boot! The blue fields iPhone case is seriously cute. As I mentioned in this post, I love how it's clear and allows the gold from the back of my phone to show though. The blue and gold combo is stunning! The pretty dress fund jar is one of those pieces that make you smile each time you see it. Who can resist metallic gold polka dots?! Saving your money never looked so good ;)

Let me start off by saying that my house smelled absolutely amazing when I was photographing these candles. Candles are always something I like to use when I want to unwind at night or to make my home feel inviting and cozy. I'm always going through tons of candles too since I burn them whenever I'm working, reading, taking a bath, or having company over. When I heard about Vallabox, I was intrigued by the fact you could subscribe or gift someone artisan candles and have them delivered to your doorstep each month. How fabulous that you would never run out of having a candle on hand whenever you need it!? Being able to gift a subscription is lovely as well, especially during this holiday season. A beautifully well made candle is something we would all love to have, but not necessarily buy for ourselves. Giving the gift of joy and warmth each month to a special someone is so heartwarming.

The idea for Vellabox came about when Adam, the owner and co-founder, saw that everyone loved getting his candles as gifts during the holidays or special events such as weddings and house warming parties. The candles could be enjoyed for long periods of time and bring happiness, light, and warmth into their surroundings. Being able to send someone this joy every month, with so little effort, led to the creation of Vellabox.

Vellabox is running a Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal beginning late Thursday night into Monday with the code GIVETHANKS15. This allows you to get $5 off your first subscription or gift subscription.

I'll be including Vellabox in my gift guides coming up as well. I'm in love with this company and their idea of providing light into our homes and hopefully, in turn, lighting up our lives. Stay tuned for some more Black Friday deals coming your way!

High Tea

tea set

Happy Wednesday loves! As usual, Wednesday is always devoted to inspiration and today I chose High Tea for the theme. One of my favorite memories is having tea with my mom while we watched Murder She Wrote or just chatted about life. Also, while on vacation in Rehoboth Beach, we would always go for high tea at the Plaza Hotel. She absolutely adored it. Everything is available to shop with the links above.

Dad's Birthday Party

Turning 61

Ever since my mom passed we have been celebrating my dad's birthday at my house. I love having the chance to host the party and getting to entertain everyone. This year my dad turned 61 and we planned on treating him to dinner and then having cake and coffee back at my house. Angel food cake has always been the staple in my family and I love serving fresh strawberries with it. My brother's girlfriend also made an amazing apple strudel, she'll be a famous chef one day mark my words!, along with the coffee. I used happy birthday confetti to decorate the tables and cake plate, balloons by the fireplace, and banners placed along the walls and fireplace as well. It was such a fun night to enjoy with the family and show my dad how much he is loved.

Last year we had a big celebration since it was my dad's 60th. I really wanted go all out for him and he truly deserves it. We all went out to dinner on his birthday and then hosted a similar dessert party back at my house. Then, a few days later, we drove down to Hotel Hershey for a fabulous Sunday brunch. This had to be the best brunch I have ever had and seen. What a beautiful setting to relax and enjoy. They had every kind of food and dessert you could imagine. I'm glad we were able to do it and make his birthday so special. This happened right before I started this blog last year and never had a chance to share so what better time then when celebrating his birthday this year.

Styling Your Vanity

Pretty Little Things

My favorite time of the day is when I'm sitting at my vanity and getting ready for the day ahead. It's a time to relax and primp, which to me has always been quite fun. I wanted my space to reflect my personal loves and have a feeling of delicateness and romance. I knew right off of the bat that I wanted white furniture. It feels pretty and clean. Next, adding antique dishes for showing off some of my jewelry. I really loved the idea of having my jewelry out and also using it as a decoration. It's much easier getting ready when you can actually see what you own. Along the same lines, I wanted my makeup brushes to be out and keep them in a pretty candle holder and also a little decorative stiletto shoe my mom surprised me with. What vanity would be complete without a mirrored plate to keep perfume, little mementos, and flowers on? Really, anything can be stored on the plate and makes it feel oh so very feminine. Scattered here and there are little personal items such as a framed photograph of Justin and I along with little photos I place on my mirror, seashells from family vacations, a cork from my birthday in Hyannis Port last year, a crystal bear from my grandmother, and lastly a wand that has purple and blue stars, moons, and star dust. The wand was given to me as a child from my dad. It's something I've always loved and treasured and keep it in a prime spot where I can always see it. One of the last items on my vanity is an antique mirror and brush set my mom gave me. Having an extra mirror to hold up close comes in handy when you're applying eye liner and mascara.

Flower Power

Flower Arranging Tips

The earth laughs in flowers
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
arranging flowers

Nothing beats having fresh flowers in your home. The bright colors and fragrant smells remind me of what such beauty there is in this world. Bringing fresh flowers into your home will no doubt brighten up your mood. While filling your home with fresh flowers can be costly, one trick I've learned is to buy bunches of inexpensive flowers, separate them all out, and then make my own small arrangements in pretty vases. So now you have the small arrangements chosen for each vase. Another trick I've learned is to take clear tape and make a grid pattern at the opening home of the vase. Think like a tic-tac-toe game. After creating the grid and cutting the stems to the appropriate length, place each flower within each little square until you can no longer see the clear tape. This way the flowers stay upright and do not fall over. Think outside of the box too with your vases. Why not try a bowl (cut the stems short for this), a teacup, or even a mason jar?

Sweet Treats

Bird's Nest Macaroons

birdsnestbanner amandabrezovsky.com

A spring time holiday, Easter brings with it delightful visions of blossoming color and life renewed. This simple dessert not only incorporates the pretty pop of color, but also the idea of new life. Like Christmas, Easter has many sweet treats associated with it. While I try to stay away from sugar, sometimes a girl cannot resist the temptation, especially while I'm in the mood for whipping up desserts. The recipe is easy to follow and only takes a few ingredients  to make these delicious bird's nest macaroons.

birdsnest amandabrezovsky.com

Ingreidents:

  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 cups shredded coconut
  • ¼ cup nutella
  • Mini chocolate Easter eggs

(A small note to make: I used truvia baking blend to cut down on the calories and sugar intake. If using truvia, the amount of sugar decreases to 1/4 cup and 2 table spoons)

birdsnest amandabrezovsky.com

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Then, using an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, until mixed thoroughly. Mix in coconut.
  3. Drop your batter onto a cookie sheet by using 1-2 tablespoon amounts. Roll into balls, then make an indent with fingers to resemble a bird’s nest. You can make them however large or small you want. This will affect how many eggs can fit into the little nest. I found that 1 tablespoon scoop leaves enough for one egg, while 2 tablespoons leaves enough for 3.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on the bottom and browned in spots on top.
  5. Once completely cooled, spoon a little Nutella into each “nest”. Heat the Nutella for 15 seconds to make it spread easier. Finish by topping with 1-3 chocolate eggs.
